Notre Dame students assigned to move out of their residence halls on Sunday, May 24 were some of the first congregants to attend an in-person Mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart since mid-March. As was the case across the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, the church has been closed to the public due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Rev. Peter McCormick, director of Campus Ministry, was at the main entrance to welcome Mass attendees and offer instructions on safety precautions to follow. Restrictions for safe gathering and worship, which comply with Indiana government, diocesan and University guidelines, can be found at campusministry.nd.edu/coronavirus.
