    A FLOUNDER was released and several PUFFERS have been caught. Clear skies with NE winds at 20 mph that are forecast to increase throughout the day. Small choppy swell with clear 57 degree water. High tide at 8:59 a.m. and 9:14 p.m. Low tide 2:54 p.m.

    Surf's Up!

    A great day for wave riders! A dozen or so anglers are also giving it a go but nothing to report just yet. Winds are SW at 15 knots. Water 56 degrees, air temp 61 this morning. High tides 5:23 a.m. and 8:38 p.m. Low tide 2:24 p.m. Summer season hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. begin Saturday, April 27. This big black drum was landed on Monday.

    Sunny Morning

    So far, BLUES and SEA MULLET! Yesterday, anglers landed a large RED DRUM (pictured) and a large BLACK DRUM and broke off a large BLUEFISH.  A few SEA MULLET were taken too! Winds are N at 13 knots and messy, white-water swells are rolling in. Air temp and ocean temp are the same -- 52 degrees. High tides 7:47 a.m. and 8:05 p.m. Low tide 1:50 p.m.

    Big bites!

    Monica and Thomas Pyles, right, used a kernel of corn for bait to catch this nice big BLACK DRUM, a 24.5 - inch beauty. Nearby, Freddie Kuhn of Dinwiddie, Va. caught and later released this healthy 32-inch RED DRUM. NE winds at 24 knots. High tides 7:13 a.m. and 7:33 p.m. Low tide 1:18 a.m. Sea surface temp 58 degrees.

    A couple of nice fish

    Cloudy and Breeze today. SHAD, PUFFER, and BLUES have been caught so far.  Air temp 57 degrees. Water temp. 57 degrees. High tide 6:00 a.m. and 6:24pm Low tides 12:01a.m. and 12:13p.m. Winds N 12 mph. Water is clear and surf is about three feet.

    Cold and blowy

    SEA MULLET this morning! Cooler spring weather has returned with cold winds, clouds and cooler air temps. Anglers caught a nice variety yesterday. Today, NE winds 15 knots. Water temp 59 degrees. Air temp this morning 49 degrees. High tides 5:20 a.m. and 5:47 p.m. Low 11:42 p.m. These middle schoolers from Apple Valley had a blast fishing while on a field trip yesterday.

    One PUFFER! Big northeast winds have stirred up the seas. The air temp down from yesterday at 56 degrees. Ocean water temp stuck on 53. NE winds at 19 knots. Low tide 9:14 a.m. High tide 3:05 p.m. An ocean rescue truck cruised the beach yesterday when warm weather had folks jumping into the surf!

    It's clear and sunny this morning with offshore winds and small surf. One BLACK DRUM was landed Saturday, our first reported fin fish of the year! Winds are SW at 10 knots. A few of our staff members, who volunteer for the OBX Marine Mammal Stranding Network, checked on this gray seal yesterday, who was "hauled out" resting and sunbathing at an undisclosed beach in Nags Head.     Warmer today with plenty of cloud cover and moderate winds. The ocean is fairly flat with a few ankle biters rolling in. No one fishing yet but a half dozen bird watchers on the end.     Found Bobber -- Hey did anyone lose their bright green cork? Sunny, calm and chilly today. No one fishing. Water and water temperatures each 50 degrees. Wind NE at 6 knots. High tide 7:39 a.m. Low tide 2:13 p.m. Mike and Sammy recovered this channel marker from Oregon Inlet Wednesday morning after the big blow Tuesday night. It was returned to the coast guard the same day.

    Students fishing during a field trip to the Pier caught four RED DRUM and landed two of them yesterday afternoon. Today, the ocean temperature has dropped to 55 degrees and so far NORTHERN PUFFERS, a nice FLOUNDER was released and SEA MULLET are biting. A beautiful day at the oceanfront too!
