Students are often told to cite their sources and not to plagiarize, but are they always aware of the reasons why there is such an emphasis on plagiarism and citation? Instead of warning students of the consequences of inappropriate information use, could we be better served by emphasizing the value of information sources and the role of citations in the scholarly research process? In this workshop, part of University Libraries’ Information Literacy Virtual Workshop Series, we will explore some of the reasons why students may struggle with citation and plagiarism and consider strategies and activities you can use to support ethical information practices.

If you require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate in this event, please email libevents@osu.edu as soon as possible. Requests made at least one week prior to the event will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
