Major Traffic Delays along King Avenue, Cannon Drive

UPDATED 11/15/17 - Lane Restrictions Along King Avenue.  The northern, westbound lane of King Avenue between Cannon Drive and the SR-315 overpass, originally scheduled to close daily from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., has been rescheduled to close daily from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The work will continue through mid-December. This change is being made to complete more work during the day. Traffic officials will be on-site during this time. This lane closure will facilitate work associated with the installation of a retaining wall for the new Cannon Drive. The lane closure will be in place on the following days:

  • Mon. (11/20) – Wed. (11/22)
  • Mon. (11/27) – Fri. (12/1)
  • Mon. (12/4) – Fri. (12/8)

Motorists should allow for additional time.  Dates are subject to change.  Updates will be posted on the Cannon Drive website and on OneSource.

  • Thursday. (11/9) – Fri. (11/10)   AND   Mon. (11/20) – Wed. (11/22) - The northern, westbound lane of King Avenue, between Cannon Drive and the SR-315 overpass, will close daily from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Traffic officials will be on-site during this time. This lane closure will facilitate work associated with the installation of a retaining wall for the new Cannon Drive.
  • Sun. (11/12) - Fri. (11/17) - Cannon Drive, between Med Center Drive and King Avenue, and King Avenue, between the SR-315 overpass and just east of Cannon Drive, will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction 24 hours a day. Traffic officials will be on-site from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily. Turn lanes onto Cannon Drive and King Avenue will be combined into the one available lane of traffic, which will cause significant traffic delays as vehicles approach the Cannon Drive and King Avenue intersection. Traffic delays along the northbound SR-315 off-ramp to Medical Center Drive are also anticipated. These lane closures will support sewer and utility work required for the Cannon Drive relocation project.
